FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

La’Drea Williams Brings Negligence Claims After Apartment Ceiling Collapse

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — La’Drea Williams has brought negligence claims against SP University Plaza 2012 LP, doing business as University Plaza Apartments, and Apartment Management Consultants, L.L.C., arising from an alleged ceiling collapse at her Jacksonville apartment.

According to the complaint, Williams was a resident of University Plaza Apartments at 2124 Dr. Roy Baker Street. On September 10, 2024, a portion of the ceiling in her daughter’s bedroom allegedly fell and struck Williams in the head. The complaint alleges that she sustained injuries and incurred medical expenses, pain and suffering, disability or physical impairment, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, and other damages.

The complaint identifies SP University Plaza 2012 LP as the property owner and Apartment Management Consultants, L.L.C. as the company responsible for managing the premises. Williams alleges that both defendants failed to reasonably inspect, maintain, repair, secure, or remedy the unsafe ceiling condition and failed to warn her of the danger.

Williams seeks compensatory and other damages allowed by law, taxable costs, interest, and any further relief the court finds proper. She has demanded a jury trial. The amount of damages will be determined through the legal process and proven at trial.
