FLORIDA WOMAN FILES LAWSUIT AFTER CHAIR TIP-OVER INCIDENT AT WESLEY CHAPEL RESTAURANT
TAMPA, Fla. – August 7, 2026 – Doris Williams has filed a premises liability lawsuit against Wesley Chapel Beefs, LLC, doing business as Beef O’Brady’s, following an incident on August 3, 2024, at the restaurant located at 27315 Wesley Chapel Boulevard in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
According to the complaint filed in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in and for Pasco County, Florida, Ms. Williams was attending a friend’s birthday party at the restaurant when she was injured. The lawsuit alleges that while Ms. Williams was seated in a high-top dining chair provided by the restaurant, the chair tipped backward as she attempted to push away from the table in preparation to stand, causing her to fall and strike her head and back on the floor.
The complaint alleges that the high-top chairs at the restaurant were equipped with rubberized feet that created friction against the restaurant flooring, causing the chairs to resist normal movement. Ms. Williams alleges that when combined with the chairs’ elevated and top-heavy design, this configuration made the chairs unreasonably prone to tipping backward during ordinary use. The lawsuit further alleges that the defendant failed to conduct adequate safety inspections, failed to warn customers of the chairs’ dangerous characteristics, and continued to make the chairs available for customer use despite their alleged instability.
Ms. Williams claims she sustained injuries to her head and back as a result of the fall and is seeking compensatory damages exceeding $50,000, along with costs and other relief.
The complaint alleges that the defendant owned, operated, managed, and maintained the restaurant and its furnishings at the time of the incident, and that the restaurant had recently undergone a remodel during which the high-top chairs were selected and installed.
The lawsuit asserts claims for negligence and premises liability. Ms. Williams is represented by Steven Capriati, Esq., of Black Rock Trial Lawyers in Tampa, Florida.
The defendant has not yet filed a response to the complaint, and no court has made any determination regarding the merits of the allegations. The case is pending in Pasco County Circuit Court under Case No. 2026-CA-00261.
