BLACK ROCK TRIAL LAWYERS FILES WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT ON BEHALF OF FAMILY OF FOUR-YEAR-OLD BOY WHO DROWNED AT SUNRISE RENTAL PROPERTY

TAMPA, Fla. — June 17, 2026 — Black Rock Trial Lawyers has filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of the Estate of Ameer Joseph, a four-year-old child who tragically drowned after allegedly gaining access to a retention pond located behind a residential rental property in Sunrise, Florida.

The lawsuit names 2401 NW 72ND TR and Reliable Financial Enterprises, LLC as defendants and alleges that the entities responsible for owning, operating, managing, and controlling the property failed to maintain reasonably safe conditions despite known risks associated with the retention pond located directly behind the residence.

According to the complaint, Ameer Joseph was a four-year-old child with autism. The lawsuit alleges that requests were made for safety measures, including installation of a fence to restrict access to the retention pond. The complaint further alleges that no such barrier was installed and that, on June 11, 2024, Ameer wandered into the backyard, entered the pond, and drowned.

“This case is about accountability and protecting vulnerable children,” said Gil Sanchez of Black Rock Trial Lawyers.
“The allegations describe a preventable tragedy involving a known hazard and a young child whose family had expressed concerns about safety. We intend to pursue justice for Ameer and his family through the civil court system.”

The complaint seeks damages under Florida’s Wrongful Death Act and includes claims for negligence and gross negligence. The lawsuit alleges that the defendants knew or should have known that failing to install a protective barrier between the residential property and the retention pond created an unreasonable and dangerous risk to residents and guests.

Ameer’s mother, Tasaya Miller, serves as the Personal Representative of his Estate and brings the action on behalf of the Estate and surviving family members.

The case has been filed in the Circuit Court of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit in and for Broward County, Florida. The allegations contained in the complaint are claims only, and the defendants are presumed innocent of liability unless and until proven otherwise in court.
