Local Woman Files Lawsuit After Suffering Severe Burns and Vision Loss at Rehabilitation Facility
Tampa, FL – March 19, 2025 – Donna Farrell Schaffer has filed a lawsuit seeking damages for severe injuries she sustained while a patient at a rehabilitation facility in Apopka, Florida. The incident occurred on November 28th, 2024, when a malfunctioning stove caused a large flame to erupt, resulting in burns to Ms. Schaffer’s face, hand, and forearm, and significant vision loss.
Ms. Schaffer’s legal team at Black Rock Trial Lawyers, PLLC, alleges negligence on the part of the facility, claiming the faulty equipment created an unsafe environment that directly led to her injuries. The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and permanent impairment.
“This incident has had a devastating impact on Ms. Schaffer’s life,” said Gil Sanchez, Esq., counsel for the plaintiff. “Our goal is to ensure that she receives the compensation she deserves for the physical and emotional trauma she endured as a result of the facility’s negligence and to prevent similar incidents from happening to others.”
The case, filed in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Orange County, is expected to proceed to trial. Further details will be released as the litigation progresses.
